Brain-Gut Axis: its paper in Anxiety Disorders
Keywords:
Brain-gut axis, mental disorders, anxiety disorders, psychobiotics, microbiota, mental healthAbstract
Background: In recent years, the brain-intestine axis and the intestinal microbiota have been the subject of study. This virtual body has demonstrated its great importance by participating in multiple functions like its ability to influence people's mental health. Objective: The general objective of this bibliographic review is to collect the most recent scientific evidence about the relationship between the brain-intestine binomial and anxiety disorders. Methods: Thus, an exhaustive search has been carried out in several metasearch engines using the period between 2018-2023. Results: The obvious link that exists between gut and brain has been confirmed, particularly in anxiety disorders. In addition, psychobiotics are presented as an alternative treatment for mood disorders. Conclusion: Although preclinical and clinical studies on the latter are increasing day by day, there is still a long way to go.
