Care Based on the Salutogenic Model and the Sense of Coherence.
Keywords:
Sense of Coherence, Primary Care, Salutogenic Model, NursingAbstract
Background: The salutogenic model developed by Antonovsky frames health within a health-disease continuum. Two key concepts stand out that help to understand people's coping mechanisms when facing life events: General Resistance Resources and the Sense of Coherence.
Objective: To analyze the implication of the Sense of Coherence model in Primary Care.
Methodology: A bibliographic review was conducted using MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Scopus, analyzing a total of 16 studies.
Results: High levels of Sense of Coherence show better health outcomes, being associated with quality of life and acting as a protective factor.
Discussion/Conclusions: The salutogenic model and the Sense of Coherence have a positive impact on people's health. In Primary Care, it is essential to develop programs with this approach due to its focus on promotion and prevention.
