Abstract

Datura stramonium is an annual herb reaching heights of 1.5 to 2 meters; robust and erect; glabrous and branched. The leaves are between oval and elliptical, pointed and slightly serrated, measuring 50-180 mm in length. It blooms from May until well into autumn with white, tubular flowers up to 10 cm long, featuring five short, fused lobes that emerge individually at the branching points. The calyx is tubular and slightly inflated at the base. The fruits are ovoid capsules measuring 35-70 mm, typically covered in slender, uniform spines.
