Care plan in a neonatal intensive care unit for preterm infants

Prematurity is one of the most prevalent health issues currently in developed countries, and its frequency is increasing. Several factors contribute to this rise: assisted reproductive techniques, greater survival of preterm infants, increasing maternal age, work conditions and stress situations in pregnant women, socio-economic factors, and maternal educational level, among others. The survival rate among preterm infants with a gestational age of less than 32 weeks or a weight under 1500 grams has significantly increased in recent years, and the disability in these children has improved. In neonatal units, the current nursing objective is to ensure that the stimuli received by preterm infants minimally disrupt the maturation of the central nervous system. For this reason, we would like to present the Nursing Care Plan developed for a girl who was admitted to the Preterm Unit of our Hospital.
