Obstetric violence. A public health issue
Keywords:
Obstetric violence, Birth, Woman, Pregnancy, Human rights, SARS-CoV-2Abstract
Obstetric violence (OV) has been brought to light among women and professionals, but its real prevalence and the factors associated with it in our healthcare system remain unknown. The WHO has issued several documents warning our country about malpractice in obstetric care. Therefore, it is essential to properly define the term OV and create specific legislation to ensure quality obstetric care.
With the outbreak of the pandemic, we have seen an increase in OV cases. It is everyone’s responsibility to continue informing and educating society and professionals with the aim of ensuring that all women feel respected in their maternity (pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum).
