Abstract

During the first half of 2026, the Official College of Nursing of Lugo delivered a continuing professional development programme comprising 18 activities, 323 teaching hours and 488 enrolments. The programme combined face-to-face, online, live-streamed and blended learning, with in-person activities distributed across Lugo, Burela and Monforte. Its content covered clinical, community-based, preventive, technological and cross-cutting competencies, including life support, difficult airway management, vascular access care, ostomy care, telemetry, anticoagulation, self-harm, elder abuse, leadership and artificial intelligence. Particular emphasis was placed on training for the different nursing specialties, which accounted for 53.9% of the total teaching hours. Overall, the programme demonstrates the College’s commitment to professional development, specialisation, innovation, and the continuous improvement of safety and quality of care.
