On 29 May, the University School of Nursing of Lugo held the graduation ceremony for the 14th Cohort of the Nursing Degree at the University of Santiago de Compostela, in which 80 students completed four years of training, effort and personal and professional growth.
The ceremony took place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Lugo Campus and brought together students, families, friends, lecturers and representatives of the university community. The event symbolised not only the end of an academic stage, but also the beginning of a professional path linked to care, responsibility and support for people at particularly vulnerable moments in their lives.
The Director of the School, Pilar Penela Puga, opened the ceremony, which also included the participation of the cohort’s sponsors, Baldomero de Maya Sánchez and Mario Alberto Rivas Carro, chosen by the students themselves. The presentation of diplomas was one of the most emotional moments of the day, marked by applause, pride and recognition of the effort made.
During the event, student representatives reflected on the journey that began in 2022, highlighting shared experiences in classrooms, clinical placements and healthcare settings, as well as the personal bonds built throughout the degree.
The graduation was presented as a farewell to university life, but above all as the beginning of a new professional responsibility. The new graduates will now be expected to apply the knowledge they have acquired, continue lifelong learning and provide competent, humane and committed care in response to society’s needs.
The ceremony concluded with the traditional Gaudeamus Igitur, bringing an emotional and collectively proud day to a close for the 14th Nursing Cohort of Lugo.
