Abstract

Good practice guidelines are characterised by a practical, accessible and nursing-centred approach, with an emphasis on prevention, patient education and continuity of care, which facilitates their implementation across diverse healthcare settings. In contrast, international guidelines provide a higher level of technical detail, including advanced protocols, device classification and global standardisation. The analysis highlights the complementarity between both approaches. Their integration strengthens evidence-based practice and reinforces nursing leadership. In this context, outcome evaluation and nursing research emerge as key elements to improve the quality of care.
